St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community
Music Ministry
The goal of the music ministry at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life is to support and strengthen the proclamation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, revealed in the Word of God and through His Church, that all may experience communion with Him, worship and praise Him, and come into a growing, intimate, personal relationship with Him.
The Music Ministry at St. Joseph's Church/Bread of life community is one filled with diversity and opportunity. We currently have three masses at the parish. The 5:15 on Saturday nights is lead by a cantor, and accompanied by organist, while the 8:30 Mass on Sunday mornings is lead by cantor and choir, accompanied by organ. These masses are considered the traditional masses at the parish, due to the fact the they sing the more historical songs of our faith. The 11 am Mass on Sunday mornings is lead by a song leader and our praise and worship band. This mass is a charismatic mass, which uses more recent praise and worship music by artist such as Chris Tomlin, John Michael Talbot, and Michael W. Smith. The instrumentation includes guitar, drum set, keyboard and vocals.
The ministry is made up of a group of dynamic, diverse and faith-filled people from within our parish and we are always looking to add to our family. The entire music ministry is invited to participate in Christmas Midnight. the Easter Vigil and other masses throughout the church year. As well as various fellowship and volunteer opportunities that arise.
We are in need of singers and instrumentalist at all of the masses, as well as individuals to help cantor, song lead, and proclaim the word of God through the singing of the psalm.
In 2006, the Praise and Worship band, Bread of Life, recorded a musical version of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy as a fundraising effort to support the restoration of the church windows. Several hundred have been sold, and many more are still available. More information on this beautiful CD can be found here.
